Head coach Mohamad Yazid Ahmad said that even though the Maksak have national players Steffi Sarge Kaur and Molusher Marudang, he would be taking one match at a time.
"Many people might feel that Maksak can easily win the tournament this year. We have experienced players but I don't think that we should be underestimating anyone.
"There are still a few aspects of our game which needs polishing and that is what we will be working on in the next few days," he added.
Maksak have been placed in Group C together with Penang, Malacca, Proton and Kuala Lumpur.
Mohamad Yazid said that he expects Proton and Kuala Lumpur to give the toughest fight in their group.
Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak, the deputy Prime Minister of Malaysia will officially open the national championships on Saturday.
