Johor spoil Maksak double bid

JOHOR prevented Maksak from completing a double at the National Futsal Championship Felda-FAM 2007 when they won the men's final 3-2 in a penalty shootout in the final at the Stadium Malawati yesterday.

The Maksak women salvaged some pride when they fought tooth and nail to beat PDRM 1-0 in the final.

In the men’s final, the score at the end of regulation time was 2-2 with goals coming off Mohd Fuad Yusof (fourth minute) and Abdul Halim Hadi (20th) for Johor, while Mohd Hadi Yusof (second) and K. Thayalan (27th) scored for Maksak.

But in the shootout, Johor maintained their composure for Lukman Tajuddin to provide the winner.

The champions received RM50,000 and were also picked as the best team in the competition.

In the women’s final, a Mariam Alias penalty was enough for Maksak to clinch the title and the RM50,000 prize money.

PDRM took home RM30,000.

The Maksak women's team were chosen as the best team in the competition, while 13-year-old Nurul Aisha Mohd Nor from Kelantan was voted best player.

RESULTS: Final - Men: Johor 2 Maksak 2 (Johor win shootout 3-2).

Women: Maksak 1 PDRM 0
