Puntar point the way

Saturday 18 August 2007

Saturday night was a happy one for KMN Puntar Tolmin, who qualified for Main round Group 6 after a 7-3 win against FC Encamp, while hope springs eternal for KMF Municipium Casino Pljevlja, Skövde AIK and MNK Kaskada Graèanica who are themselves one win away from qualification.

Puntar victory
Hosts KMN Puntar are through to Main round Group 6 after completing a convincing win against FC Encamp. The Slovenian side only needed a draw to qualify from Group F and they always looked in control after taking a 2-0 half-time lead against their Andorran opponents. Puntar can now look forward to meeting Romania's CIP Deva, Iberia 2003 Tbilisi and Croatian hosts HMNK Gospiæ next month.

Montenegrin hope
In France Municipium moved to the top of Group B following their 3-2 win against Issy Futsal. The fate of Montenegro's first representatives in the competition now lies very much in their own hands as a win on Sunday against KS Ali Demi Tirana, who lie at the foot of the table following their 6-3 defeat against Ararat AGBU Nicosia FC, will take them through to Main round Group 4. There Futsal Topsport Antwerpen, Hungarian hosts Futsal Club Gödöllõ and Athina '90 Athens await.

Jeepers routed
In Sweden Jeepers FC were always going to be up against it after needing to better the 8-2 result by which they lost against hosts Skövde AIK on Friday and, trailing 8-1 at half-time at the hands of Graèanica, the destiny of the club from Malta was never in doubt. Their 18-3 defeat ends their involvement in the competition and qualification to Main round Group 6 will now be the reward for the winners of Sunday's meeting between Skövde and the Bosnia-Herzegovnian outfit. Serbia's KMF Marbo Beograd, Czech hosts FK Era-Pack Chudrim and Finland's Ilves FS Tampere will meet the Group E table-toppers next month.
