News Shopper New direction for footballersA futsal tournament at the Becket Sports Centre on Shepherd's Lane, Dartford, was attended by four five-a-side teams.
Futsal differs from football as hockey-sized goals are used instead of football goals and the ball is heavier than a standard football. It is also a non-contact game with an emphasis on skill.
The Brazilian Kickers, who play in a London-based futsal league, won the tournament.
Organiser Mel Comber, who is manager of Becket Sports Hall, which is part of the centre, said: "The two Brazilian teams from London came and showed everybody how it should be done.
"The day was really enjoyable and a good learning experience, too.
"We hope to have more tournaments in the future and maybe even a league."
If you are interested in joining the next tournament, call Mr Comber on 01322 280646.
