The weekend of 6-8 July brought the Muslim Women’s Sport Foundation’s Futsal Team to Sheffield for the inaugural invitational Women’s Futsal Cup held by the FA.

The team played three group games against professional women’s teams such as Watford FC (eventual Futsal Cup winners for 2007). Despite a great improvement from the team’s previous tournament, the girls were unable to overcome the tough teams they played. They went through to the quarter-finals of the Plate competition where they progressed to the semi-finals.

The FA were so impressed by the attitude of the team that they were crowned Fair Play winners of the entire women’s tournament.
