UEFA.comQuartet to stage futsal Elite roundFriday 14 September 2007Russia's MFK Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg, Italian champions Luparense Calcio A5, Czech side FK Era-Pack Chrudim and Clearex Chorzów of Poland have been selected as mini-tournament hosts for the UEFA Futsal Cup Elite round and will discover their opponents in Tuesday's draw – when a special award will be made to former Spanish international Julio.
SeedingSixteen teams will line up in the next stage, though the exact lineup will only be confirmed when the Main round ends this weekend. The clubs will be drawn into four groups, each containing one of the hosts. Also kept apart in the draw will be the top four seeds – Ekaterinburg, holders MFK Dinamo Moskva, ElPozo Murcia FS and Kairat Almaty – who are entering at this stage.
Julio awardThe draw will take place from 13.00CET on Tuesday at UEFA headquarters in Nyon. It will be made by Grigoriy Surkis, chairman of the UEFA Futsal and Beach Soccer Committee, together with recently retired player Julio. He is being honoured by UEFA following a successful career which yielded two FIFA Futsal World Cup wins and three UEFA European Futsal Championship titles with Spain, and two UEFA Futsal Cup victories with Boomerang Interviú. The 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup qualifying draw follows at 14.00.
