SAFA President’s Reactions on CAF 50th Anniversary
The South African football Association President Dr. Molefi Oliphant expressed its gratitude and satisfaction to the Confederation Football for organising its annual standing committee meeting in South Africa recognising SAFA as one of its founding member along Sudan, Egypt and Ethiopia.
‘Organising 13 CAF standing committee meetings in 3 different cities namely Port Elisabeth, Cape Town and Johannesburg has given an opportunity to South Africans to know the Continental governing football body much better, we are delighted that CAF has awarded its Order of Merit in Gold to the President of the Republic of South Africa his Excellency M. Thabo Mbeki as one the founding members and his contribution to the development of football in Africa’
CAF has also awarded certificate of recognition to 50 South Africans who contributed to the development of football in South Africa in the following category: Ex-footballers Administration, Refereeing ,Marketing and Ex-footballers.
CAF Competitions Hosting Rights: Women Championship 2008 and Futsal 2008.
The Executive Committee of the Confederation of African football has unanimously granted the hosting rights for the Women Championship to Equatorial Guinea in 2008 ,
