THIS NEWSLETTER IS DEDICATED TO .....

Sadly in the last two weeks we have had two deaths in the futsal world.

Jordan Fowles died in a motorbike accident on Saturday 8th September. Jordan, 17, a student at Tully High School was an avid futsal player. our condolences to his family.

Tracey Cruse, mother of Mark, Lee and Jack died after a long illness this week. Mark and Lee represented Queensland many times at the National titles as juniors and Mark still plays premier league football in Brisbane. Personally i have known Tracey since 1988, when on arrival from England I sold them their first house in Australia, and I have to say she will be greatly missed.

RIP

LOZANO MOVES TO FOOTBALL

In what is seen as shock announcement, the Spanish National Futsal team coach Javier Lozano is leaving futsal in order to sign for the soccer side Real Madrid, as a general coordinator of the first team's plantilla. This is the end of 15 brilliant years spent leading Spain towards the greatest results, breaking the Brazilian dominance in futsal and introducing a new futsal era since Guatemala 2000.
There have been some occurences at this level of transfers across the sport, but not many have gone down as been particularly successful, so it will be interesting to see how he goes.

QUEENSLAND NEWS

Selections for the Queensland Men's City team are now down to the final 15 players. Final selections took place on Sunday with the following players successful.

Field Players: David Fisher, Brett Richardson, Ben Hunt, Ray Mortenson, Chris Burley, Keenan Dumphies, Daniel Liddy, Jovan Gacesa, Matt Taylor, Dean Barnes, Renagi Ingam and Luke Haydon (at left).

The team is still extremely young, however I'm sure will impress.

An interesting statisitc is that of the 15 players , eight at some time have spent 6 months in Brazil training with either a Serie A club or Colegio Sant Antonio.

The team will be coached by Ewerton with Paul Mckarzel as assistant.

The womens squad is also down to final 15 and I'll put that list up next Newsletter.

OUTDOOR FUTSAL GREAT SUCCESS

Similar to what has happened overseas, lack of indoor facilities has forced us to go outdoors.
Ennogerra Club in North Brisbane( at Ennogerra Bowls Club) has been at full capacity for 2 years at 138 teams and we have built at Moorooka Bowls Club another two court facility.
Two weeks ago in Hobart a sign up was held at Hobart Hockey Centre where we have set up 6 courts on an artificial surface and the night was a great success signing up around 140 teams, with more on the way. Corey Smith and Brian Keightley were excited by the turnout, and with Launceston signon still to come and a new club in Burnie, we are expecting 200 teams in Tasmania. See at left scenes from the sign on.

NOTE: Open Day and Come n Try at Moorooka Cub will be SUNDAY 14TH OCTOBER 12.00 PM to 4.00 PM . There will be a sausage sizzle, teams training and a chance to play on the new courts. Moorooka Bowls Club is one of the most advanced in Queensland with Bar,Restaurant,Poker Machines and mega size televisions.
