As announced in the last press release by FIFA an important change will be applied in the World Futsal Cup tournament formula since the next edition to take place in Brazil in 2008.

Twenty teams will take part in the final stage instead of the "traditional" 16, beeing the Confederation places shared in the following way:

AFC -> 4
CAF -> 2 (6)
CONCACAF -> 3 (9)
CONMEBOL -> 3 (12)
OFC -> 1 (13)
UEFA -> 6 (19)

+ BRAZIL -> 1 (20) (host country)
