WALTER PLESSNovember 02, 2007TASMANIA'S under-16 Futsal team finished second in the 2007 Vikings Australasian School Futsal titles in Melbourne.
Tasmania lost to Victoria in the grand final.
The Tasmanian side, coached by Jon Foley-Donoghue, consisted of Pat Foley-Donoghue, Matt Lewis, Amadu Koroma, Valandis Matsouris, Rory McCallum, Mathew Spence, Callan Griffin, Matthew Chapman, Daniel Langdale and Zak Bird.
The North-West Tasmanian under-13 girls also made their final, while three other Tasmanian sides made the semi-finals, only to suffer narrow defeats.
Amadu Koromoa (U16 boys), Hayley Ward (U13 girls), George Kamano (U12 boys) and Vincent Kamano (U10 boys) were selected in All-Star squads.
CENTRAL defender Marc Iseli has been named as Kingborough Lions United's players' player of the year.
In the reserves, Ash Moor was the best and fairest and Ben Daley the players' player, while in the under-19s Sebastian Gore was the best and fairest and Richard Overeem the most consistent.
Lisa Jarman was the women's Division One players' player.
Defender Darrin Chaffey took out Metro-Claremont's senior best-and-fairest award, as well as the "most consistent" honour, while defender Adrian Lawler won the coach's award and sweeper Terry Kent the players' player award.
Nikki Hallam was the women's Division One most valuable player, Debbie Deegan the most improved, and Sophie Lipscombe the most consistent. Justine Hallam received the coach's award and Riana Cashinella the encouragement award.
For Glenorchy Knights, defender Janko Begovic won both the players' player and the best and fairest awards, while midfielder Jonathon Ladic took out the Patron's Award as the best senior player.
Tom Huigsloot was the Premier League side's topscorer.
Naomi Tomlinson was the Women's Premier League best and fairest player, Stacey Bennett the players' player, and Lauren Griffiths-Lee the topscorer.
