New Straits Times On LineCarnivals to identify young talentA SERIES of futsal carnivals will be held for Under-12 boys and Under-16 girls next month in four states.
The 'Milo Grow with Sports' carnival is a programme aimed at the development of sports at grassroots and nurturing young athletes.
Hopefully, this will lead to a strong sports culture, with children learning the basic skills of their sports, working as a team and developing sportsmanship.
Initiated last year, it was well received by children and parents. An Under-16 futsal programme for girls will be introduced this time due to the popularity of the game among girls.
The coaches conducting the programme will identify players and recommend them to the state school sports councils for state and national junior squads.
The 'Milo Grow with Sports' programme will be held over four weekends in Kuantan, Malacca, Alor Star and the Klang Valley.
The carnivals will start with a two-hour coaching clinic followed by a competition.
Entries are open to the first 36 teams to register for the Under-12 boys, and 12 teams for the Under-16 girls in each of the four states. Entry fee is RM20 per team of eight players. All players will receive T-shirts, sports tumblers and Milo drinks.
The top four teams in both the boys and girls categories will win cash prizes, medals, Milo products, and futsal balls.
Entry forms are available at Plaza Futsal Kuantan, Malacca, Alor Star Sports Planet, and HTO De Futsal in Subang, Selangor. Forms are also available at www.milo.com.my or www.syoknyafutsal.com. Contact Nik Muhd Radzi at 019-3519934 or 019-2102442 for more information.
