Below we publish an extract regarding futsal competitions, from the recent AFC Executive Commitee held in Sidney

Thailand will host the AFC Challenge Cup 2008 due to the fact Chinese Taipei could not guarantee facilities that meet AFC competition standard while the AFC Futsal Championship 2008, which is also in Thailand, will now take place from 11 to 18 May.

The qualifying format for the AFC Futsal Championship 2008 will involve 12 teams divided into three groups of four with the group winners and the best runner-up advancing to the finals. Malaysia will host the qualifying competition which has been scheduled for mid-March 2008.

It was also announced that the AFC will have four berths at the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup and that the panel of AFC Elite Futsal Referees has been increased to 20.
