Kylie StevensTHE West City Crusaders Futsal players are booting some big goals.
The Penrith-based club is celebrating the success of 16 girls and women who will represent NSW at the Futsal national titles in January.
Almost 3000 players from Australia, New Zealand and the Solomon Islands will compete at the titles in Canberra, from Monday, January 7, to Wednesday, January 9.
Local players selected were Svetlana Kasic, Erin Hill, Laura Elliott, Chantel Camilleri, Emily Hupton, Melissa Khoury, Emma Sloan, Doris Osman, Lael Burke, Carla Charalabous, Samantha Collins, Rebecca Allen, Desiree Vassallo, Lorissa Habib, Samantha Nagy and Sarah Easthope.
They were selected from the recent club State Titles.
The club leads the second division Super League club championship with ambitions of promotion to Premier League next season.
The league consists of eight age groups from under12s boys to men and under13s girls to women who play against 11 other clubs in the Super League and eight in the Premier League.
Club President Warren Ladd is thrilled with the results in all the grades.
"It's amazing that the club has so many players selected against all other 19 clubs," he said. "This is wonderful for the club in its third year of representative Futsal."
Club coaching director Rob Hill, who looks after two of the three girls' teams, said they deserved their success. "They're elite athletes who train very hard," he said.
