Appeal for organisers

The FA is looking for League organisers throughout the country prepared to run Futsal leagues to produce qualifiers for the 2008 FA Futsal Cup.

Generally these leagues run in the period between March to June 2008 but League Organisers are welcome to run longer and larger competitions should they so wish.

The Finals will be held at the prestigious English Institute of Sport in Sheffield between July 4 and 6 2008. The Finals Weekend will also incorporate school and club tournaments as well as a Women’s Senior Futsal competition.

Why Futsal?

Futsal is a format of Small Sided Football that is played extensively throughout the world and as a consequence is recognised and supported by UEFA and FIFA.

Who will the leagues provide for?

The Leagues will run a male and female adult competition in order to qualify teams for the FA Futsal Cup.

Senior Women’s Competition
2008 will see the second Women’s senior tournament. The make up of this competition will be determined by the level of interest but any Organiser running a senior women’s qualifying tournament will be guaranteed entry.

Qualification to FA Futsal Finals
Once the number of Leagues is agreed, The FA will identify the qualification process for the FA Futsal Finals. Leagues that are well established, have a large number of competitive teams and have provided teams that qualified for the quarter final stage of the 2007 Cup may be offered direct qualification to the finals for one or more teams. The qualifying teams from other Leagues and Competitions will be required to play in one or two regional qualifying rounds. Teams qualifying from new Leagues initiated in 2008 will need to progress through two qualification rounds to reach the National Finals. League organisers will be informed of the qualification process prior to the commencement of League programmes.
