The New Straits TimesSuccessful end to coaching clinic THE Milo Grow With Futsal coaching clinics came to a close with Taman Tengku Husna from Alor Star emerging the Under-12 champions after beating Petronas FC 2-1 in the final at the Alor Star Sports Planet on Sunday.
The Under-16 girls category was won by Kelab Sukan Remaja Felda-Perlis, who beat Star FC 2-0.
The clinic -- the fourth leg of a highly successful second edition -- saw 38 boys' and nine girls' teams competing.
Despite being held in Alor Star, teams from Ipoh, Kuala Lumpur and Negri Sembilan also competed.
Aimed at unity, each team had to consist players from different races and what made the Alor Star event even more memorable was the fact that parents were both coaches and managers.
"This is the main idea of the coaching clinics -- that sports and studies are a healthy partnership and the fact that parents are getting involved shows that we are reaching out to all our targets," said Nestle Malaysia-Milo Sports Marketing manager Ng Ping Loong.
It wasn't all about competition though as the players first attended a two-hour coaching clinic on the finer points of futsal.
Held over the year-end school holidays, Ping Loong said the programme is expected to be organised again this year.
