Futsal clinic attracts 54 teams

THE fourth and final leg of the Milo Grow with Sports Under-12 futsal clinic, held at the Sports Planet in Alor Star, attracted teams from the Klang Valley.

A total 54 teams - 38 in the boys and 16 in the girls - took part in the programme to rekindle the sports culture, educate the children on the basics involved in futsal. It was also to inspire parents and children to appreciate the good values involved in sports.

Nestle Products sports marketing manager Ng Ping Loong said he was surprised with the presence of teams from Kuala Lumpur, Selangor and Negri Sembilan.

“Sports and studies can mix. A healthy body builds a healthy mind. Most important is sports develop good values in children like strength of character, discipline, teamwork, leadership, dedication, sportsmanship and unity.

“These back to basics sports clinics also serves to excite kids to get into sports and nurture the basic skills in the game,'' said Ng.

After the two-hour coaching clinic, a competition was held for the participants. Team Tengku Husna emerged as the champions in the boys' category after a 2-1 win over Petronas FC while Kelab Sukan Remaja Felda were the winners in the girls category following a 2-0 win over Star FC.
