Over 150 teams, 60 Futsal Referees numerous volunteers of Capital Football - Futsal are involved in the 29th National Futsal Championships.

Today started with the Football Federation Australia (FFA) making arrangements for a FIFA approved fitness test for all match officials at the Championships of which was held in very fine conditions both in regards to the weather and the venue at the AIS. The Referees then moved onto the seminar venue to be coached by our lead Futsal Referees from FIFA and the FFA so as to ensure that all Referees are correctly appliying the Laws of the game.

The opening of the Championships commenced 5pm at the AIS with Players, Spectators and Officials from far and wide converging on the Nations Capital - Canberra. The parade of National particpants started with Referees and Volunteer Officails followed by our International guests from Papua New Guinea and the Solomon Islands and then the State and Territories of Australia. Newcomers to the Nationals Tasmania and Western Australia where also represented.

With the designated official from the FFA declaring the Nationals open he thanked all the the volunteers, officials, players and mums and dads for being a part of this great game called Futsal. The FFA representative also made mention of the continued commitment of the organisation towards Futsal as being an integral part of the Football family.

The first games tonight saw the Solomon Island Open Mens team play against Victoria with the game being end to end and the final result being 3 - 2 to Victoria. Victoria can feel lucky that they got away with this game. If the game was to have a few more minutes in it, the guys from across the pacific ocean would of won the match.

Tuesday will see the games spreadout over 4 Venues in numerous age groups. Stay tuned for more reports from the desk of the Nationals later...........
