Vikings Futsal Trip to Brazil a Success!!!Vikings Under 14 boys Futsal Selected Team travelled to Brazil last November for a series of games, and specialised training with the best coaches on the land of Football. We learn some of the secrets of this country which is 5 times world champion in football. Why are they so good? So skilful? We saw first hand the quality of their coaching staff and their training sessions which are based on quick thinking games, the secret of their silky skills relies on starting first by playing the game of Futsal. Every player in Brazil is brought on Futsal where they learn close ball skills, speed on the ball and quick thinking, before playing on the big field.
The trip started with the aussie party arriving in Florianopolis. Whilst there we were welcomed by the National League Futsal Team ADC Florianopolis. We played two games against their junior teams which off course we lost. But great credit goes to the aussie boys who tried hard during the game, but were beaten by a better side that has been training 3 times a week for the last 3 years (which most teams do over there at this age…). These two games gave us the understanding that we were in Brazil not to win games, but to learn heaps from the Brazilians!
Our next Stop was at the city of Futsal in Brazil, JARAGUA DO SUL, this is the home of Malwee Futsal Club, the biggest Futsal Club in Brazil. Malwee is where Falcao, arguably the best Futsal player in the world, plays for. Whilst there we attended the prestigious South American Futsal Club Championships (that’s how advanced they are over there in terms of Futsal competitions…) as special guests of Malwee. In the final Malwee beat Carlos Barbosa, from Rio Grande do Sul, 5-1. Carlos Barbosa is also big Futsal club in Brazil, having won the World Club Futsal Championships in 2006, competition organised and recognised by FIFA.
The tournament itself had a great atmosphere in it. With an average attendance of 3.000 people per game and a lot of cheering going on, we felt like we were in a Football stadium!!!. The grand final attracted over 6.000 people cheering for Malwee. All the boys and parents had a fantastic time there, before heading to our last stop, Veranopolis.
For our last stop, we went to the city of Veranopolis and we visited the DAL PONTE FACTORY whilst there. DAL PONTE is the biggest manufactured of Futsal gear in the world. They are the biggest sponsor of Futsal Clubs in Brazil, and is the sponsor of the Brazilian National Futsal Team. DAL PONTE provided us with top quality coaches for our daily training sessions, and we also did some sightseeing in this beautiful region of Brazil, which was colonised by Italians after the second world war.
All the 9 players that came from different parts of Australia and New Zealand to take part in the tour loved it and had a great time. So did the 5 parents that followed us around the land of true Football !!!
Vikings Futsal take tours to Brazil regularly, and more tours are planned for the near future…
