Murcia and Dinamo keep on winning

Friday 18 January 2008

The clock is ticking until the 2007/08 UEFA Futsal Cup final four in late April and the contenders continue to show good domestic form.

Murcia on top
Although the Spanish league is decided by a play-off, finishing first in the regular season ensures top seeding and reigning champions ElPozo Murcia FS are looking good for that berth. They are on an eleven-match unbeaten league run, and four straight wins have taken them five points clear of arch-rivals Interviú Fadesa. In the last game before Christmas, Murcia beat Caja Segovia FS 4-2 and they picked up on 6 January with a 6-5 win at FS Cartagena, two days before Interviú were held 3-3 at Valencia FS. ElPozo then saw off DKV Zaragoza 5-2 and defeated Benicarló FS 3-1 while Segovia drew 3-3 at Interviú.

Dinamo motor on
Meanwhile, final four hosts MFK Dinamo Moskva have produced ten straight Russian league wins, though fellow European contenders MFK Viz-Sinara Ekaterinburg remain on their tail. Dinamo's latest results include 3-1 and 4-2 wins at home to MFK Politech St. Petersburg and 7-2 and 5-1 triumphs at MFK Dinamo St. Petersburg. Ekaterinburg were held in one of their two games against MFK Mytischi, they picked up 5-1 and 2-0 successes at Politech to move back level with second-placed TTG-JAVA Yugorsk, eight points adrift of Dinamo. Ekaterinburg welcome the champions for vital games on the first two days of February, before first VIZ-Sinara and then Dinamo take on Yugorsk in successive weeks. The fourth UEFA Futsal Cup semi-finalists, Kairat Almaty, continue to chase Aktobe BTA in Kazakhstan but do not meet their main rivals until late March.
