KL World 5s: Malaysia edge Indonesia in opener

MALAYSIA edged Indonesia 3-2 in their opening KL World 5s futsal match at Stadium Negara yesterday.

"It was a tough match for us as the Indonesians were closing down the pace. It took us some time to break them." said Malaysia's coach P. Balakrishnan after the Group A tie.

It was Indonesia's second defeat, after having lost 5-1 to Australia in a morning match.

Malaysia, today are scheduled to meet Argentina, who thrashed England 12-1 in the other Group A match yesterday.

In Group B matches, Brazil outplayed China 4-0 while Netherlands drew 3-3 with Thailand.

Results - Group A: Australia 5 Indonesia 1, Argentina 12 England 1, Malaysia 3 Indonesia 2; Group B: Brazil 4 China 0; Netherlands 3 Thailand 3.

Today - 10am: China v Thailand ; 3pm: England v Indonesia; 5pm: Argentina v Malaysia; 7pm: Iran v Brazil; 9pm: Netherlands v China
