Argentina 12-1 England
KL World 5's

Graeme Dell's England Futsal team endured a predictably difficult match against Argentina this afternoon in their opening match of the KL World Fives in Malaysia.

Argentina were the last team to win the world's richest Futsal Tournament when it was held in 2003. They are ranked 113 places ahead of England and in this game demonstrated just what it takes to be one of the best teams in the world.

England's strategy involved attempting to deny the Argentinians possession. Whilst the Three Lions were able to retain the ball for extended periods, the speed and indiviual skills of the South Americans presented a constant goal threat.

In the face of such skilful opponents, England backed off and given space, Argentina racked up eight goals in the first half with only a solitary effort by Richard Follett in reply.

Dell's half time team talk focused on affording the Argentinians less space, as a pressing game better suited England's players and under pressure, Argentina had to work much harder for their goals.

England began to make their own chances with Alex Sykes and Nick Collet testing Ellias in goal.

Argentina added a further four goals in the second half which resulted in a final score of 12-1.

England now play Indonesia on Wednesday, when they will be hoping to pick up a better result.

Indonesia have already lost their first two games to Australia and Malaysia and present England with their best chance of success at this prestigious tournament
