The AFC.com Courses will elevate Asian futsal, says Shams KUALA LUMPUR – Hossein Shams, who guided Asian powerhouse Iran to three AFC Futsal Championship titles, believes that courses such as the AFC’s Elite Futsal Coaching Instructors programme are crucial in raising the standards of the indoor game throughout the continent.
Speaking to www.the-afc.com, the 47-year-old said: “We need to empower ourselves by expanding awareness gradually in Asia and holding such courses are essential in this matter.
“I think this knowledge will be extended to all corners of Asia as the AFC is considering organising more courses in different regions over the coming year”.
Shams was one of three Elite Futsal Instructors that took part in the three-day course, held in Kuala Lumpur under the AFC’s Elite Education Seminar 2008, and is looking forward to passing on the knowledge learned from the programme to the next generation of futsal coaches in Asia.
Referring to the course instructor, former Argentina, Chile, and Thailand national futsal team coach Vicente De Luise, Shams continued:
“Vicente is a well known instructor in the futsal all over the world and he shared his specific experiences, including from the Italian league, one of the highest level leagues around.
“I hope we as instructors can convey all his detail in our own style to other Asian coaches.”
Although the AFC’s Elite Futsal Coaching Instructors course concluded on Wednesday, Shams is remaining in the Malaysian capital to coach Iran at the KL World 5s, which finishes on Sunday.
