Merhulietsa FC win Futsal tourney

Kohima, February 2 (MExN): Merhulietsa FC took the coveted title of the Ist Open Futsal Tournament 2008 (five a-side soccer) played here at the Kohima Local Ground under the aegis of GATD, Kohima. Defeating Hilly Kids Club 2-1, Merhulietsa FC walked away with a cash prize of Rs. 15,000 along with trophy and certificate. The first runners-up Hilly Kids Club won a cash prize of Rs. 10,000 while the third place Legend Lads, Jalukie pocketed Rs. 5000. Zealous FC stood in fourth place.
Meanwhile, Lemrai winner of the Player of the tournament received Rs. 1000 along with trophy while Akho and Vizovor highest scorer and best goalkeeper respectively were awarded with Rs.500 each. The prizes were given away by guest of honour, R. Sopu Angami. The closing function concluded with vote of thanks tendered by Kenei Nakhro, chairman, Organizing Committee. The tournament which commenced on January 30, witnessed the participation of 16 teams.
