The operation to construct Tommy’s new ears will cost around a staggering £50,000 and Middlesbrough Futsal Club are supporting his fundraising campaign along with our official charity Make A Child Smile. To raise funds we are hosting an exhibition match with Ipswich Wolves, the English Champions on 23rd February 2008. Futsal Academy – learn to play the Brazilian wayThe Boro Futsal Academy is starting now, with Under 16s and Under 14s being held on selected Tuesdays at Acklam Sports Centre, King’s Manor School, Middlesbrough. The next sessions will be on Tuesday 19th February: 3pm-4pm Under 14s, and 4pm-5pm Under 16s. The FA Futsal LeagueLast month Middlesbrough Futsal Club received an offer of a place in the FA Futsal League – North. This is the first official national league ran by The FA, with the winners qualifying for the UEFA Futsal Cup, the champions’ league of futsal! Being accepted into the national league is a huge step in the history of Middlesbrough Futsal Club and is a reward for all the hard work put in by everyone at the club over the last year. It will also give Boro regular top quality opposition to compete against at the top level of English Futsal. Matches will be played every two weeks, and every month we’ll be previewing the next two of our opponents in this newsletter. The 7 other teams in the North Division are: FC Barsa Leeds, Hull Futsal, FC Grimsby, Manchester FC, Tranmere Victoria FC, Sheffield FC and Sheffield & Hallamshire FC. Look out for fixtures next week!

And FinallyMiddlesbrough Futsal Club made it’s first appearance (that we know of!) in the national media this week when NUTS, in their feature “50 Premier League Secrets!”, wrote: “England Wing Wizard Stewart Downing is the honorary president of Middlesbrough Futsal (indoor 5-a-side) Club.” It’s on page 45 and it is number 18 out of 50 Football Secrets!
