February 10th

University of Limerick

Limerick 37 - Cork City 2-5

Scorers:
Limerick 37: Davy Ryan, Darren Harrington

Limerick 37s Davy Ryan had the honour of scoring the first goal of this Seasons Eircom League Futsal Tournament held at University of Limerick. It took less than 90 seconds for Limerick to convert a fast breakway and take the lead. However it was Cork City who illustrated a better understanding of the nature of Futsal, and they dominated the majority of the first half, two quick fire goals from the impressive Cathal Lordan and Ray Lally inside 30 seconds, gave them a 2 – 1 half time lead. The second half saw further goals from Lordan (2) and Mulcahy for Cork , while Darren Harrington responded for Limerick 37.

Galway Utd - Waterford Utd 12-1

Scorers:
Galway Utd: Kevin Cummins (4), Jonathan Keane (3), Cian McBrien (2), Paul Sinnott, Vinny Flaherty, Daryl Robson

Waterford Utd: Colin o Shea

Player of the Match: Jonathan Keane (Galway Utd)

The need for a Club to have a strong squad of 12 players was evident in this game as Waterford United , suffered a heavy defeat to the impressive Tribesmen. In fact the Blues took an early lead when Colin o Shea scored after less than a minute. However this was as good as it was to get for the Blues, as a rampant Galway Utd went on a goal blitz, scoring 6 goals in each half - to illustrate the unforgiving nature of Futsal.

Limerick 37 - Galway Utd 2-8

Scorers:

Limerick 37: Darren Harrington (2)

Galway Utd: Vinny Flaherty (4), Paul Sinnott (2), Kevin Cummins, Jonathan Keane

Galway Utd sealed back to back wins - with an explosive first half display, in which there fast possession game and lethal finishing from ace marksman Vinny Flaherty left Limerick 37 with a mountain to climb in the second half. Credit to Limerick who despite having a small squad on duty - managed to score twice through Darren Harrington in the second half.

Player of the Match: Vinny Flaherty (Galway Utd)

Cork City - Waterford Utd 16-1

Scorers:

Cork City: Ray Lally (6), Cathal Lordan (4), Paul Deasey (3), Shane Scannell, Jamie Drennin, Craig Duggan

Waterford Utd: Rob Dempsey

Cork City showed no sympathy for their neighbours, Waterford as they went goal crazy in the final fixture of Series 1 and 2 in the Eircom Futsal League. Ray Lally was the outstanding performer grabing six goals, showing all that is great about Futsal, his quick feet, ball skils and razor sharp finishing helped send Cork City to the top of the table on goal difference from Galway Utd.
