The AFC.comOceans claim inaugural F-League TOKYO – A 5-4 defeat to Shriker Osaka in the final round of the inaugural season couldn’t dampen the spirits of Nagoya Oceans, who emerged the first-ever champions of the F-League, Japan’s national futsal competition.
The Oceans, the F-League’s only fully professional club, took the title by winning 17 out of their 21 matches to finish six points clear of runners-up Bardral Urayasu in the eight-team tournament.
“I feel relieved that we won the title despite the pressure from the other teams,” said Mario Tateyama, head coach of the Oceans.
“The inaugural F-League was wonderful so the players need to take further steps to keep up with the league’s progress.”
