National team manager Hamidin Mohd Amin expects the team to make the Finals.
“We have qualified three times (since 2005) for the Finals and I see no reason why we cannot make it again,” said Hamidin, who picked Taiwan as their main threat in the qualifiers.
Group B will have Kuwait, Indonesia, Macau, Brunei and Qatar.
The top two teams from each group will qualify for the Finals, which will be held in Bangkok from May 11-18.
Malaysia are ranked second in the Asean region based on the silver medal effort at the Korat SEA Games last December. Thailand emerged champions by beating Malaysia 5-0 in the final.
The Thais are among the 12 seeded teams who have won automatic qualification to the Finals.
The other 11 teams are Iran, Japan, Uzbekistan, Kyrgyzstan, Lebanon, Tajikistan, Australia, South Korea, Iraq, China and Turkmenistan.
The top four teams in the Finals will represent Asia in the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil in October.
