Thai Son Nam lead National Futsal Champs first leg

Ho Chi Minh City’s Thai Son Nam futsal club claimed the mid-season title with a 4-2 victory over Da Nang’s Nam Viet A in the final match of the first-leg of the National Futsal Championships.


The event was held in HCMC from March 2-10.

Thai Son Nam came from behind to level 2-2 after conceding two goals and later won 4-2 on penalties to take the win.

Nam Viet A retained its 2-0 advantage until the last four minutes of the match after a goalless draw during the first half with home-court passes to slow the match down.

Tran Duc scored the fist goal for Da Nang at the 28th minute and substitute Van Long scored the second goal in a quick counter-attack minutes later.

Thai Son Nam, with two goals by Ha Bao Minh and Pham The Tam at the 37th minute of the match, helped equalize the scores near the final whistle to force the game to penalty shootouts.

Thai Son Nam’s goal keeper Le Bao Khanh successfully blocked two goals to bring a 4-2 victory in the penalty shootout.

Earlier, Dilmah Ha Tay bagged a third place finish with a 4-2 victory over Maseco in the third/fourth game.

The second leg of the tournament will take place in the central city of Da Nang from October 4-17 with all 11 teams participating.
