The AFC.comPetrov named Uzbek futsal coachTASHKENT – Aleksander Petrov has been appointed head coach of Uzbekistan’s futsal squad, replacing Bahodyr Ahmedov who will remain with the team as player-assistant coach.
The former referee had been in charge of club side Ardus, who were defeated 5-4 on penalties in the Uzbekistan futsal cup final recently as newcomers Uchkuduk completed the league and cup double.
Petrov’s main objective is the forthcoming AFC Futsal Championship, which will take place in Bangkok, Thailand from May 11 to 18, with the top four sides representing Asia at the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup finals in Brazil.
