Kick OffSA’s Futsal squad jet out for LibyaSouth Africa’s indoor soccer national team left the country today beaming with confidence that they will do well during the African qualifiers for World Futsal Championship that are being held in Libya.
South Africa has been pitted against Egypt, Angola, Zambia and Mozambique in the group B of the tournament that starts on March 21.
Speaking to KickOff.com before their departure to Tripoli, team manager Solly Matlala and assistant coach David Sono echoed each other sentiments that the team will bring back home honours from the tournament whose finals are set for March 30.
“We would have loved to have had more time for a training camp but in the few days that we trained together, the players have showed hunger and determination.
“The spirit is high and we are confident that we will come back with something from Libya. We are happy with the players’ fitness levels and over the past two days we have been focusing on tactics and set pieces,” Sono added.
Matlala disclosed that Ashley Naidoo, who sat out of training sessions on Sunday, has fully recovered.
“He has not been feeling well since Sunday due some chest pains but now he is back full time at training and ready for our first game against Angola on Friday.”
