Group OneCameroon 3:3 NigeriaA last gasp strike from Aliyu Usman ensured Nigeria held Cameroon 3-3 on the second day of the 4th African Futsal Championship in Libya on Saturday at the African Union Hall.
Cameroon was cruising to their first victory after Patrick Atangana’s brace had put them 3-2 only for Usman to deliver the killer strike on the stroke of full time.
Before that Nigeria had fought from two goals down through some poor defencing by the fourth minute mark.
Cameroon coach Epee Louis Renee expressed disappointment with the result, adding that his side was tactically and technically superior to the Nigerians.
“We lost everything just within a spate of a second of loss of concentration. But we will fight hard to get the needed result in our next game.
Libya 4:2 TunisiaHosts Libya continued with their fine with a 4-2 victory over Tunisia to go top of Group One.
The victory makes the “Greens” the only side with a hundred percent record in the group.
Midfielder Abdel Rahim Rabie scored two twice whilst one each from Mohamed Yahya Abdulwahed and Shahout Mohamed secured them the maximum points.
Libya’s Omran Abdurahim Nabil was full of praise for his colleagues for the wonderful recovery after the Tunisians had pinned their half early in the first half.
“We recovered very well, and that is a sign of a good team. We hope to continue with such fine form to the final.”
Group TwoEgypt 8:4 South AfricaDefending champions, Egypt maintained their winning spree at the ongoing 4th African Futsal champions by beating South Africa 8-4 in their Group two clash at Cortuba.
The victory saw the high flying Egyptians cruised to their second win of the tournament they are seeking to win for an unprecedented fourth time.
It was South Africa’s second successive defeat, after losing to Angola by a similar margin in the opening match last Friday.
Mozambique 9:2 ZambiaMozambique walloped Zambia 9-2 to brighten their chances of a next round berth.
The free-scoring Mozambicans are now tied on the same points with Egypt after the two wins, though the latter have superior goal difference.
Zambia, who are yet to find their feet have conceded 18 goals in two outings and a far from making it to the next round
