Malaysia score first win in futsal qualifiers

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia picked up their first win in the AFC futsal qualifying tournament when they thrashed Maldives 9-4 in a Group A match at the Matsushita Sports Complex in Shah Alam yesterday.

Malaysia, who drew 4-4 with Vietnam in their first match on Wednesday, need only a draw against Taiwan in the final group fixture today to qualify for the Finals in Bangkok from May 11-18.

The top two teams in the two-group qualifiers advance to the Finals.

Taiwan lead the group with six points after picking up their second win with an 8-4 demolition of Vietnam yesterday.
