Futsal tourney begins on March 29

Pune, March 28

A five-a-side football (or futsal) tournament titled 'Oxford knockout futsal tournament' will be held on March 29 and 30 at Oxford Premium, Wanowrie. The matches will be played in two sessions in the morning and afternoon.

Futsal is the only official form of indoor soccer recognized by FIFA. The game is played with a smaller, less bouncy ball on a flat, hard court ranging from basketball-sized to 25m x 42m and uses touch line boundaries instead of sidewalls. Because there are four players and a goalie in each team, the game is frequently called Five-a-Side.

Originated in Montevideo, Uruguay in 1930, the game is now played by over 12 million people in over 100 countries.

Non-stop music on the lines of T20 cricket has been included to increase the entertainment quotient of the tournament.
