Malaysia, Taiwan through to the futsal Finals

PETALING JAYA: Malaysia and Taiwan have qualified for the final rounds of the AFC futsal tournament, which will be held in Bangkok from May 11-18.

The national team, under coach P. Balakrishnan, topped Group A in the qualifying tournament with seven points from two wins and a draw.

Malaysia, who drew 4-4 with Vietnam and beat the Maldives 9-4, completed their fixtures with a 7-4 victory over Taiwan at the Matsushita Sports Complex in Shah Alam yesterday.

Taiwan finished second on six points.

In another match, Vietnam beat the Maldives 4-2.

The top two teams in the two-group qualifiers will advance to the Finals.

The teams in Group B are Kuwait, Indonesia, Macau, Brunei and Qatar.
