Za'im ZainiBandar Seri Begawan - The Brunei National Futsal team returned empty-handed and winless after losing all their games during the qualifying stage, in-group B of the AFC Futsal Championship 2008 in Malaysia.
National futsal coach Yunos bin Hj Mohd Yusop said there were a lot of weaknesses found especially in the mental and physical areas, and that they will work on more on the team's fitness.
He also revealed that he plans to add eight more players to their 12 existing players. Selection will be based on decisions made from the upcoming NBT Futsal tournament.
The addition to the squad is hoped to strengthen the team for the upcoming 2008 Asean Football Federation (AFF) Futsal Championship in Bangkok, Thailand in July.
In their final game against Macau, the national team lost 0-1 despite being awarded a penalty kick before Macau scored against them. The lost meant that the national team was unable to make up for their previous losses especially the trashing by Indonesia.
Prior to their final game, Brunei lost to Indonesia 1-10, lost to Kuwait with a score of 1-6 and lost to Qatar 0-2.
This means the national team was the last team with no points and Indonesia and Kuwait topped the group.
In the group B match, Indonesia beat Kuwait 1-0 yesterday.
All the matches were held at the Matsushita Sports Complex, Shah Alam, Malaysia.
