CFU FUTSAL KICKS OFF WITH WINS FOR T&T AND GUYANA

Trinidad and Tobago made a winning start to its defence of the Caribbean Futsal Championship with a convincing 7-0 win over Puerto Rico in the second game of a double header at the Canedo Hall, Centre of Excellence on Thursday.

In the first match of the evening, Guyana got past St Maarten by an 8-2 margin.The first half was highly competitive with Guyana scoring late in the 7th minute, when Sint Maarten equalized in the early in the 14th minute, Guyana struck back almost immediately, through John Waldron, to regain the lead before going into half-time.
Early in the 2nd half the Dutchmen scored to equalize the game at 2 apiece.

However the remainder of the game was controlled by the Guyanese who scored 5 more goals and were assisted by an own goal from St Maarten's Perry Geerlings.

Later on Trinidad and Tobago, coached by Clayton Morris made easy work of Puerto Rico. The visitors did show some fight and managed some good tries on goal

On Friday, Guyana will face of against Haiti at 5:00 pm and Puerto Rico will try to win their final group match against Suriname at 7:00pm.
