CONCACAF.com (day 1)Guyana, Trinidad & Tobago triumph in Caribbean Futsal Tourney openers3.4.08 - Guyana and the hosts Trinidad & Tobago began the Caribbean Futsal Qualifying Tournament with victories over Sint Maarten and Puerto Rico, respectively, at the Canedo Hall in the Centre of Excellence on Thursday.
John Waldron scored twice for Guyana in the 8:2 win over Sint Maarten in Group B action. Guyana finished second in the Caribbean event four years ago, while Sint Maarten were playing their first Futsal Tournament in this region.
In a Group A encounter at Macoyas Canedo Hall, Trinidad & Tobago defeated Puerto Rico by a score of 7:0. Wendell Douglas had two goals to lead the defending Caribbean Champions.
The Caribbean Tournament continues on Friday at Canedo Hall with Puerto Rico taking on Surinam in Group A, while Guyana face Haiti in a Group B match.
The two Caribbean qualifiers will join Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, USA and the host, Guatemala at the 2008 CONCACAF Futsal Championship at the Domo Polideportivo in Guatemala City from 2-8 June.
The CONCACAF Championship will also progress three teams to the 2008 FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil from 30 September 19 October.

CONCACAF.com (day 2)Haiti & Surinam post victories in Caribbean Futsal Tournament4.4.08 - Haiti and Surinam posted victories over Guyana and Puerto Rico, respectively, at the Caribbean Futsal Qualifying Tournament at the Canedo Hall in Macoya, Trinidad & Tobago Friday.
Clifton Sandnliet scored five times, while Gino Brandon added three more for Surinam in the 15:3 triumph over Puerto Rico in a Group A encounter. The 15 goals were the most scored by Surinam in a Caribbean Futsal Tournament match since they defeated Turks & Caicos Islands (15:1) on 20 April 2004.
In a Group B match, Edouard Voltaire had three goals, while Previlus Jamesly, Eliacin Rigarden and Vengit Robins each added one each for Haiti in the 12:2 win over Guyana. The win was the first for Haiti in a Futsal Tournament held in the CONCACAF region.
The Caribbean Tournament continues on Saturday at Canedo Hall with Trinidad & Tobago hosting Surinam in Group A , while Haiti face Sint Maarten in a Group B match.

The defending Caribbean Champion, Trinidad & Tobago claimed first-place in Group A following a 7:3 win over Surinam, while Haiti defeated Sint Maarten by a score of 19:1 to take the top spot in Group B.
