Trinidad ExpressT&T are Futsal Qualifying champsTuesday, April 8th 2008 HOSTS Trinidad and Tobago won the Caribbean Futsal (indoor football) Qualifying Tournament with a 6-3 victory over Haiti Sunday evening at the Centre of Excellence, Macoya.
Both finalists have qualified to join Costa Rica, Cuba, Mexico, Panama, the United States and hosts Guatemala in the CONCACAF Futsal Championships in early June.
The top three from that event will advance to the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil from the end of September.
In Sunday's final, Colin Joseph netted twice (in the 20th and 31st minutes), while Brent Antoine (12th minute), Jerwyn Balthazar (14th), Kevin Peters (24th) and Sterling O'Brien (25th) also contributed to T&T's triumphant effort.
Chaperon James found the net in the 16th minute before Venett Robbins scored in the 38th minute and then a minute later for Haiti.
Earlier, Suriname beat Guyana 7-3 in a playoff for third place and dedicated the victory to the victims of a recent plane crash which involved family members of three players of their team, as well as a player who was unable to gain selection on their squad.
