Players fight it out in futsal league

By CHARLES FERNANDEZ

THE Cyberjaya Futsal League finals of the men’s and women’s category last weekend held at the Cyberjaya Community Centre was a tough battle.

The referee had his hands full flashing the yellow cards on several accounts during the women's finals between Pu3 Kickerz from Petaling Jaya and Shah Alam City Council (MBSA), as the game got out of control due to robust tackling from both sides.

In the end, it was the team from Petaling Jaya that triumphed 3-1.

This team has had the same set of players for four years and they comprised mainly of students and graduates from UiTM.

The team also won the top prize at the Kelab Komuniti Taman Tasik Cyberjaya Futsal Challenge held in January and therefore it was no surprise when they took home the champion’s trophy and the RM800 cash prize.

In the third and fourth placing match, User Friendly thrashed Just Daisies 4-0.

The men's finals between Jabatan Perkhid-matan Awam, Putrajaya (JPA FC) and Team Kiro (MMU Cyberjaya) was keenly fought with the teams tied at 2-2 at full-time.

JPA FC took home RM1,000 and the champion's trophy when they won the game 3-2 from a penalty shootout. Team Kiro pocketed RM700.

It was an all Cyberjaya affair in the third and fourth placing match with A7 United coming up tops with a 9-5 thrashing their opponents.

A total of 50 teams took part in the challenge.
