TOR CHITTINAND Thailand aim to win the Asian Futsal (five-a-side) Championships after being drawn into a relatively easy group yesterday.
Hosts Thailand will face Kyrgyzstan, Iraq and Indonesia in Group A with the top two teams in each of the four groups advancing to the quarter-finals. The semi-finalists will represent Asia at the World Championships.
Thailand manager Adisak Benjasiriwan said he was pleased with the draw as it seems that only Kyrgyzstan, who finished fourth in last year's tournament, could beat Thailand.
Thailand have to finish top in the group to avoid powerhouses Japan in the quarter-finals, Adisak said.
But Adisak believes his side can go all the way. "We aim to win the title for the first time," he said.
The 10th Asian Futsal Championships will be held from May 11-18 at Nimibutr Gymnasium and Indoor Stadium, Hua Mark.
