Gladstone ObserverPlaying futsal in green and goldApril 22, 2008GLADSTONE futsal player Daniel Barletta says you never tire of the emotions that ebb from representing Australia.
After having already lined up for Queensland Country, Central Queensland School Boys and Central Queensland Ordinary in previous games, Barletta confessed he was over the moon when informed he was selected to wear the green and gold in San Francisco during May.
"I don't think you could possibly ever tire of hearing you're name read out to represent Australia," Barletta said. "It's a feeling you can't describe.''
Barletta is one of the six Queenslanders named in the seven player squad for the under-16 Australia Boys Futsal team.
Daniel started playing the fast paced game to stay fit during the soccer off-season, and after only two seasons has travelled Australia far and wide.
"When I started playing sport, all I wanted was a jersey with my name and number on it, and to have that in green and gold is such an achievement," he said.
Barletta will fly out of Gladstone on May 7 to join the rest of his team mates in Brisbane for a two day training camp before heading off to the USA Futsal Tour.
While this is the first time competing in the Australia team, it will also be Barletta's first time overseas
