THE second leg of the Milo Under-16 Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival 2008 was held over the weekend at the Sports Planet Futsal Centre in Ipoh.

The final between Anderson Tigers and Milo Ais was keenly contested with Anderson prevailing 1-0.

We Love Telok Intan beating Meru FC in a penalty shoot out to finish third. They had earlier played to 1-1 draw.

The top four teams walked away with prize money of RM1000, RM800, RM600 and RM500 respectively and also received commemorative items including a complete set of jerseys and balls from Figos.

A total of 48 teams competed in the tournament which will be held over 14 legs till July 19. The grand finals, comprising the best 32 teams from the 14 legs, will be held on July 27 in Selangor.

A 45 minute coaching clinic followed by a friendly match between two Under-12 football academies were held before last weekend's tournament proper.

"We are very happy with the great start to this Milo Hidup Bola Futsal Carnival," said Ng Ping Loong, the Milo sports marketing manager.

"Our objective is to provide opportunities to the youth of 16 years and below to show off their futsal skills, enjoy the atmosphere, promote good sports values and make new friends.

"With the grand prize of a trip to Manchester United for the champion team, we are expecting good response in every state."

The 3rd leg will be held this Saturday at the Sports Planet in Kuching Sarawak.

Entry fee is RM50 per team.
