Sports Minister congratulates LGS

LAHORE: Federal Sports Minister Kh M Asif has congratulated Lahore Grammar School (LGS) for winning U-18 event of Nirala Futsal Challenge Trophy at LUMS the other day.

LGS beat tough opponents in Group-A and came out with flying colours, defeating LUMS 2-0, Iqra University 7-0 and drew with Beacon House 2-2. After winning the quarterfinal and semifinal and with Ali Mustafa getting 13 goals LGS overcame LUMS 2-0 in thrilling final. Ali was adjudged Man of the Tournament and leading scorer while their other goal getters were Burhan (3) and Awais (2). Striker Rehan Azhar Munir stole the limelight in U-18 show by becoming best player of the event and top scorer with 10 goals. LGS U-18 cut Lahore Alam White and Sharif Education to size with 5-0 and 5-1 scoreline while their match against Schoueifat ended 0-0. They imposed 4-2 win over Garden Town’s Beacon House in quarterfinals, followed by 2-1 win over Musab in semifinal and 2-1 win over Lahore Alma Green in final. Their other marksmen in U-18 show were Safan Qadir (4), Taimoor Butt (2), Maaz bin Safeer (1) and Talha Ejaz (1).
