By CHARLES FERNANDEZ

FIVE former internationals added excitement to the launch of the Kimberley-Clark Professional (KCP) Wypall inter-factory futsal competition at the Sports Planet Subang Grand recently.

The five were Rashid Hassan, Santokh Singh, Khalid Ali, Khan Hung Meng and Dollah Salleh. They also played a match with KCP.

Due to overwhelming response, the organisers have increased the number of regional games to five. The next three legs will be played at the Sports Planet Subang Grand in Bandar Sunway on May 17, the Best Bola-Bola Sports Centre in Penang on May 24 and at the Millennium Soccer Skudai in Johor Baru on May 31.

The grand final is scheduled to be held at the Sports Planet Subang Grand on June 22. The champions in the grand final will receive RM1,500 and trophy, followed by RM700 for second place, RM500 for third placing and RM350 for fourth placing.

A total of 36 teams from the automotive industry took part in the opening leg of the competition. Teams from Bufori, Daimler Chrysler, Hyundai, Naza, Perodua, Proton and UMW showed their futsal skills in the event.

Assembly Services, Modenas, Naza and Tan Chong have qualified for the grand final.

Kimberley-Clark Professional national sales manager Alex Ng said teams from the automotive industry showed a keen interest in the competition.
