Futsal Training System films new video at Forekicks Sportsplex, in Norfolk, Massachusetts

Saturday, May 3, 2008

New England Futsal arranged to have approximately 30 local futsal players from the age of 8 to 17 participated in the filming of the, first ever, American made futsal training video geared for youth team players and their coaches.

Players trained for two afternoon sessions and the actual shooting of the footage by the award winning, New York based Grassroots Films took approximately 2 days to complete at the Forekicks Sports Complex in Norfolk, Massachusetts. Players were led by New England Futsal Preident, Coach Bill Sampaio of Tiverton, RI through 5 basic categories of play. Coach Bill is the National Director of Fustal Coaches for the US Futsal Federation, based in California.

"This should be an excellent foundation for youth teams throughout the country and for their coaches to have on hand" says Coach Bill. Elements of play that are covered include, passing, receiving, dribbling, faking and shooting. This introductory video presentation being produced for Futsal Training System shall be released as part of an initial campaign to increase the knowledge of the game to the American public. John Kinnane of Futsal Training System says, "that the video is intended as an introduction to new players and coaches who don't fully understand the basic elements of the game and is to accompany the re-publication of the book, Futsal, authored by Ricardo Lucenca Ferreira as well as a new innovative online Futsal Training System that coaches and players will be able to subscribe to, to view illustrated practice drills and tactical play formats. These 3 components of Futsal Training System, LLC are designed to provide a comprehensive training resource for coaches, players and referees alike. The video is just the first in a series now under way in the United States." "Our initial release of this online resource will coincide with the United States Futsal Federation's 27th Annual National Fustal Championships in July 10-13, 2008 at the Baltimore Convention Center in Baltimore, Maryland", adds Kinnane.

"We're very excited about this video. We see that the kids enjoy the game. We know that their skill level increases exponentially because of the sport, it demands it of its players. We need to reach out to new players and their coaches to teach them the basics in getting started and to have them begin to reap the benefits from playing this small sided game of indoor soccer with no walls", adds Coach Sampaio.

It's no secret that the greatest soccer phenoms of the world started off their illustrious careers by playing none other than Futsal as children. The time has come in the United States for this generation of young players to embrace the sport of futsal and take the very first step toward becoming world class players, born and bred, in the USA.

"Growth in the sport of Futsal here in the United States averages 20% per year, a testament to not only its skill development benefits, but to its fast pace, exciting format and that it is fun to play as well as to watch", says Kinnane. This training video represents the first in a series of futsal training videos that will be released and each one should provide a valuable resource to coaches and players alike.
