Iran's futsal team beats China 8-1

The national Iranian futsal team has won an easy 8-1 victory over China at the 2008 10th AFC Futsal Championship in Bangkok, Thailand.

Iran earlier clinched a 12-0 victory over Kuwait in Group D of the tournament. The team will face Tajikistan in its next match.

"We had a tough job in the beginning of the match. Chinese (players) put pressure on us but we gradually managed to reduce their pressures… we have great players that are able to change the course of a match," said Iran's head coach Hossein Shams.

“We will try to score more goals tomorrow and the day after tomorrow and we will see a good result,” he added, promising to secure Iran's ninth AFC Futsal Championship title.

Sixteen teams have participated in the Bangkok championships, which will run until May 18, and the top four teams will represent Asia at the FIFA Futsal World Cup in Brazil in October 2008
