Iran’s futsal team crowned Asian champions

BANGKOK, Thailand, May 18 (MNA)--Iran’s futsal team clinched its ninth championship on Sunday by beating Thailand 4-0 in the 10th AFC Futsal Championship 2008 in Bangkok, Thailand.
Majid Latifi put ahead Iran in the match which held in front of Thai fans. Top scorer Vahid Shamsaei doubled the score in the first half.

Shamsaei netted twice in the second half and boosted Iranian hopes to lift the cup and captain Mohammasd-Reza Heidarian poured cold water on the hosts hopes.

Iran, Thailand, Japan and China secured berths for the World Championship in Brazil later this year following qualifying for the semi-final stage.

The reigning champion Iran has won nine AFC Futsal Championship title out of ten.
