Northaw have to settle for play-off place

FS NORTHAW will have to go through the play-offs to reach the National Futsal Finals despite another impressive victory.

The north London side claimed a second successive victory over Vaughans, beating their long-established rivals 7-4, to move up to third place in the Southern Division of the FA National League.

However, with White Bear and Baltic United claiming the top two spots, Northaw will have to go through the play-offs if they want to reach the National Finals in Sheffield next month.

The match against Vaughans was a close-fought affair, with the lead changing hands several times. However, after the visiting keeper was sent off late on, Northaw scored twice in the last 40 seconds to claim a deserved victory.

On target for the Enfield/Cheshunt side in the match at Bethnal Green College were Sam Judge (2), Grant Osborn (2), Denis Zadiekis, Kirt Osborn and Hatim Mosy-Fahmy.

That left Northaw with a record of three wins and three defeats from their six league matches to date.

NORTHAW (v Vaughans): Sean Wiggan, Sam Judge, Aaron Cato, Zaine Martin, Denis Zadiekis. Subs: Kirt Osborn, Grant Osborn, Justin Dickinson, Stuart Gore, Hatim Mosy-Fahmy.

Northaw duo help FA side to victory

GRANT OSBORN and Aaron Cato helped an FA XI to victory in a three-team tournament in a grassroots football show in Birmingham.

The FS Northaw pair were called up for the representative side after helping the north London side to victory over Vaughans in the FA National Futsal League Southern Division recently.

And they continued their good form by helping the FA XI to pick up some silverware after beating Ipswich Wolves and MDU in the three-team event.
