Futsal Finds Fun in Annual Tourney

San Diego Futsal held its Second Annual Youth Futsal Tournament on Sunday, June 1, 2008 for players ages 5-18. Play was fast-paced and action-packed throughout the day with a scoring average was 9.5 goals per game.

The youngers bracket play kicked off at 9:00 a.m. between Bad Blue Boys and Futsal Fury. The first goal was scored by Bad Blue Boy Eric Silberman and the scores kept coming from then on.

Teams from across the county showed up to put their skills to the test. The technical abilities on display were thoroughly impressive, as Futsallers are known for their spectacular footwork and ball control. As best said by an onlooker watching Futsal for the very first time: "Even the worst kid on the team is phenomenal."

The days' most unexpected talent came from the Pacific Beach Middle School squad, which proved that fancy uniforms and expensive shoes don't outweigh desire. Their passion was apparent as they played brilliantly with smiles on their faces.
