Parade planned as Solo side wins through to world cup

A traditional street parade will celebrate the second Solomon islands soccer side to make it to an international event, after the beach soccer team also made it to a world cup.

Solomon Islands Football's Eddie Ngava says the futsal side won through in fine style.

"It was great news for the country and everyone is just so excited about it," Ngava said.

"Thousands of people went up to meet them at the airport and yeah it is wonderful news, everyone is thinking, how good are these kids, so we are going to present them tomorrow.

Solomon Islands beat Oceania Football Confederation newcomers Tuvalu 12-nil in their final game of the qualifying tournament in Fiji.
